Your Excellency, Prime Minister,

Dear friends,

I know I speak for everyone in this room when I say that we are all very happy to have this opportunity to share the afternoon with you, especially on these very busy days of the General Assembly United Nations.

When you were here last May, Mr Prime Minister, and addressed the joint session of Congress – an unprecedented honour, indeed, both for you and for Greece – we were all filled with great emotion and great pride.

For in a time of global uncertainty, you continue to demonstrate the leadership qualities Greece and the world need.

Therefore, let us begin our lunch with a prayer – not only for the blessing of this moment, but for the peace and stability of our world as a whole.

Let us bow our heads in prayer:

We give you thanks, O Christ our God, for having brought us together in fraternal communion to share this meal – blessed by your Spirit – and to hear the Head of Government of the Hellenic Republic.

We ask for Your rich and abundant blessings on Prime Minister Mitsotakis, and on all the noble people of Greece.

Grant to them, Lord, and to everyone, Your eternal peace, which surpasses all understanding and fills every heart with tranquility and serenity;

That we may always dwell in freedom, with an abundance of all that is necessary for a satisfying and fulfilling life;

Always glorifying you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.
