Memphis Juneteenth Festival celebrates freedom and African-American culture – FOX13 News Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. —Memphis June 16 party is back this summer to celebrate freedom and African-American culture.
Juneteenth, which is Sunday, June 19, is a federal holiday to commemorate the emancipation of African Americans.
The festival is a free event June 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Health Sciences Park at Madison Avenue and S. Dunlap Street.
Juneteenth is one of Memphis’ longest-running African-American celebrations and draws 30,000 to 40,000 people each year, according to event organizers.
