Neighborhood Festival Celebrates Asian American Community | Homes and Lifestyle

The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation (SBTHP) will present the 12th annual Asian American Quarter Festival, 5 to 8 p.m. on October 7, an outdoor event celebrating the Asian American heritage that once was thrived in and around the presidio of Santa Barbara.
This year’s event will be hosted at Casa de la Guerra as part of 1st Thursday in downtown Santa Barbara. Performances and art exhibits will celebrate the vibrant traditions of the local Asian American community. Traditional cultural performances will include dance, drumming, music and other performing arts.
SBTHP thanks DJ Javier for providing illustrations for this year’s festival. The event is sponsored by the George H. Griffiths and Olive J. Griffiths Charitable Foundation.
Coming on October 30, SBTHP invites the community to Revisiting Jimmy’s Oriental Gardens, an Asian-American history afternoon in and around El Presidio, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
