The Great American Community Streaming Service Launches September 26

For some audiences, Great American Family has become an indispensable part of their entertainment menu. The channel offers movies and shows intentionally designed to appeal to an audience that appreciates a “faith and family” approach. CEO Bill Abbott says of his channel, “You turn it on, you know what you’re going to get. There is an expectation and we are responding to that expectation. And that’s what’s missing in the environment right now – networks are everywhere and you never really know what you’re going to get.

On September 26, the channel’s parent company is launching a new streaming service that appears to be a hybrid of the Great American Family channel, social media, and Quibi. It’s called the greater American community.

In time, that seems to be the plan. “We’ll do things like book clubs where, over a two-week period, people will sign up, read a book, maybe we’ll have the author to talk, maybe we’ll we can have talent for interviews,” Abbott said. “There are many different ways to create events that will draw people in. We will have daily devotions that will provide different and unique spiritual elements for people. that they can get their cooking recipe and that they can also be inspired.

“We’re thinking of a masterclass that we could have been taught by someone in our community who is an expert in something,” Abbott said.

Abbott explained that the app will have a planning calendar feature to try to help families stay on top of vacation planning and other life events.

What is the Great American Community App Experience?

The app appears to be an add-on to the Great American Family and Great American Living channels. It is not intended to replace or serve as an exclusive broadcast platform for the broadcasts of these channels. With its abbreviated content, it is more likely to be consumed on the go or on a mobile device, rather than on a TV screen. With its ecosystem of curated short videos, think of it as a more family-friendly TikTok or Instagram experience.
