The weakening of American culture

There are many values of the average conservative that were once the lifeblood of America. Our country was founded with religious ideals in mind, as John Adams explains: “We do not have a government armed with power capable of combating human passions unbridled by morality and religion… Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people ”. Americans were once united by these shared cultural and societal values. However, these values changed when a counterculture emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s. This counterculture attack was, and still is, due to the giant change. a way of tradition in the United States. This change sparked a push against the fundamental and interconnected morals of the country, the roles of women in society and the importance of family unity.

This counterculture attack was, and still is, due to the giant change a way of tradition in the United States. This change sparked a push against the fundamental and interconnected morals of the country, the roles of women in society and the importance of family unity.

Today, it seems that the limits of this counter-culture have been so extended that it is now the dominant culture. the fundamental moral of the United States. were life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. However, each of these values is now reversed. Justice and truth are pervaded by political correctness and hypersensitivity. Sexual immorality is now the norm thanks to third wave feminism perpetuated by the legality and acceptance of abortion and divorce. And now politics is run on the basis of identity, causing the public (and even students here at UM) to see others, not through their individual values and actions, but through their social groups.

This role of sexual immorality is another example of how the counter-culture movement has turned the push for women’s equality into a warrior’s petition for social justice. A good example is the position of American society on sexual “liberation”, perfectly illustrated by the left. to rent by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s Grammy Performance. When I watch this clip, I don’t feel “empowered” or “liberated”. It’s really disheartening how celebrities teach young girls and men that sexualizing women is supposed to be the same as empowering them. And, frankly, it’s pretty disgusting to watch.

The counter-culture against the unity of families has turned into fluidity and divorce acceptance, which is statistically one of the worst ways that children can be raised. the Black lives matter The movement specifically stated in its charter that “We are disrupting the structure of the nuclear family prescribed by the West.” Why? Because they believe it’s an American tradition that still points to white supremacy and a lack of community. It is a traditional value to create strong nuclear families, and because of the distance from tradition, we can see the same estrangement from strong families. This causes children who are brought up in single-parent households are more likely to commit more serious crimes and are more likely to live in poverty.

Overall, due to the abandonment of traditional values America has experienced more division than it has in many years. People act like traditions are bad and never should have been, when they don’t think about the reasons why those traditions never came into place. I think most of this disrespect for tradition comes from the younger generations, who think they know better but, in reality, have lived the least amount of time. Therefore, they may not have the same wisdom or understanding of these traditions as the older generations who lived them. So they try to change traditions they don’t understand, and the country is left in tatters.
