U.S. Embassy Calls for Applications for Fulbright FLTA

The United States Embassy in Dhaka is inviting applications for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program 2023-2024.

Interested candidates were invited to apply by September 10.

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program aimed at fostering mutual understanding between the United States and other countries around the world.

The Fulbright FLTA program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).

The Fulbright FLTA program offers scholarships to highly motivated early-career Bangladeshi education professionals working in English language and other related fields (American Studies, Journalism and Media, American/English Literature, and Bengali Language Instructors) to teach Bengali at an American institution of higher education (college or university).

This nine-month, non-degree program offers Bangladeshi scholars and professionals an excellent professional development opportunity to sharpen their skills, improve their English proficiency, and enhance their knowledge of the United States.

Fulbright FLTA scholars typically teach Bengali language courses to US and international students from around the world.

Fellows and their students will have a unique opportunity to learn about each other’s cultures and societies.

Fulbright FLTA participants may attend up to twenty hours of language instruction per week and must enroll in at least two courses per semester, one of which must be in American Studies.

Courses are offered on an audit or credit basis.

Fulbright FLTA participants will also be expected to host cultural events, language clubs, discussion groups and language tables and interact with their host community through conversation groups, extracurricular activities and outreach projects community.

Since 2006, nearly 50 Bangladeshi scholars have participated in this flagship educational exchange.
